Justin Bieber’s film, Never Say Never, has now earned more than Michael Jackson’s This Is It, making it the most successful concert movie domestically.

Firstly, I will always come to m’man Mike’s defence so let me just say this: I think this is an unfair record (regardless of who holds it). 

This Is It is not a concert film. It is a documentary about the behind the scenes process of making a concert. It does not contain a concert (how could it, the man died). 

Never Say Never is a concert film as it contains a concert. As such it’s not really a fair assessment. Not to mention This Is It was a limited run (though it was extended several times). The article does not note this.

Of course further reading of the article clarifies all:

Bieber, however, will not outpace the nearly $190 million This Is It earned internationally.

In other words: inaccurate headline. In accurate record. 

Michael Jackson remains the king.
